• Bachelor’s degree in Physics at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid in 1989

• PhD in Physics from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid in 1993. The doctoral thesis was based on the work carried out at the Freie Universität Berlin between 1989 and 1993 under the supervision of Prof. Günter Kaindl.

• Postdoctoral researcher at the Institut für Experimentalphysik of the Freie Universität Berlin in 1994

• Senior researcher at the Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Metalúrgicas (CSIC) from 1995 to 1998

• Assistant professor of Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering at the Universidad Miguel Hernández de Elche between 1998 and 2001

• “Ramón y Cajal” Fellow at the Departamento de Física Aplicada of the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid between 2001 and 2005
